Shad is why I haven’t lost total faith in hip hop. There are still brothas out there doing it real big; education over exploitation. I’ve heard it termed “nerdcore” hip hop. Whatever, it’s positive and to quote another user:

I prefer my music with talent and meaning, not some b****it incoherent dribble about “licking a lollipop”, or a very very poor attempt at rock singing about the prom queen and her “fancy underwear”.

Looking forward to the day when the above is mainstream again and the current radio rotation politely vanishes…forever.

We all get old, but we don’t all get grown.

That’s me…almost two years ago. Significantly smaller than I am now. Heck I even blogged about it. Back then I rode roughly 25 miles back and forth to work M-F and on average 40-60 miles every weekend (weather permitting). I was small…like, really small. That shirt was a size small, I was wearing a size 33-34 shorts (I’ve got big thighs); I was looking good.

Fastforward to now. When I look at myself in the mirror I gag. At this very moment I’m looking down the hallway into our changing area. Peering at my reflection in the mirror I’m totally grossed out by what I see. Worse still, this weather won’t let up which means I can’t get in a proper ride that is even remotely worthwhile. Ugh, it is so easy to put the weight on but absolutely impossible to shed it quickly. AND, now that we’re in New Jersey, the routes I ride are somewhat crazier and sketchier. No more laps of Central Park, I simply have to make due with navigating these, at times, nerve rackingly (I know that’s not a word, but whatevs) busy NJ roads.

Being fat is not for me. I need to really cut this weight fast. Ugh…I’m so frikkin huge it’s driving me crazy!
